NEW BUS FOR LONDON GALLERY PHOTOGRAPHS
I have created a Gallery page CLICK HERE for the Wrightbus New Bus for London and have added photographs of fleet numbers LT1 and LT7. As Corgi have announced new models for fleet numbers LT2, LT3, LT5, LT7 and LT8, I am wondering if anybody has high resolution photographs of any of these in service on the Route 38 that they would be willing to email me for use in the Gallery.
Also does anyone have any photographs of the full size mockup that was/is on display at the LT Museum as this is the bus represented in the LT Gift Set OM49904 released a couple of weeks ago. Please CLICK HERE to email me photographs if you can assist.

MORE NEWS FROM CORGI
Some additional news which I did not report yesterday but have picked up now I have had time to look through the trade price lists/order form and the Corgi website:

The Corgi website appears to divulge the identity of the 2013 Corgi Collector Club model:
OM46603 New Bus for London, 38 Victoria - 'Singing In The Rain' – Exclusive to the Corgi Collector Club

CLICK HERE to read the article on the Corgi website.

Corgi Direct Exclusive Model
When looking through the Corgi trade price list/order form, I noticed that
OM46602 New Bus for London -'Les Miserables' was not included. The Corgi website shows the model as being "Exclusive to Corgi Direct" and I would assume not generally available to the trade. I will make some enquiries.

Photograph 2 CLICK HERE

The model is priced at £35.99

The following text has been received from the LT Museum:

The special model produced by Exclusive First Editions for London Transport Museum’s Acton open weekend on 6/7 October 2012 is this 1:76 scale model of a Green Line liveried RT type double deck bus. The RT type was London Transport’s standard double deck bus for central (red), country (green) and coach services (Green Line), nearly 5000 of which were built between 1947 and 1954, the final examples being withdrawn from service in 1979.

Many Green Line examples were used on bus services in the 1960’s as new Routemaster coaches were introduced into the Green Line fleet. The example modelled was used at Amersham on local bus services, and retained, like most other Green Line liveried examples, its fleet name and livery until overhaul or withdrawal from service.

This is the third model released this autumn with a Metropolitan line connection, a GS on Route 316 and a Untied Counties Bristol LS on the jointly worked London Transport Route 359, being the other examples. All three models have a connection with the A stock trains that have served the Metropolitan line so faithfully for 51 years and finally being withdrawn from service on 29 September 2012.

CORGI - NEW MODELS ANNOUNCED - JANUARY - JUNE 2013
Corgi announced the following new models at 9.00am this morning, further details and photographs to follow shortly:

Original Omnibus
Corgi presents the Original Omnibus Company, a range of detailed die-cast model buses and coaches. Each model is presented in a clear plastic display box and comes complete with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity detailing the history of the particular vehicle and operator. Scaled at 1:76 this collection is ideal for both enthusiasts and ‘00’ gauge railway modellers. This collectable series of high quality vehicles spans over a century of public transport history
including TrolleyBuses, diesel powered coaches and buses right up to today’s hybrid powered vehicles.

Caetano Levante National Express ‘St George’s Flag’, dual destination OM46407A/B
The National Express brand was created in 1972 by the National Bus Company (NBC) to bring together express bus and coach services. National Express was subject to a management buy-out in 1988. In 1992 National Express Group PLC was floated on the London-Stock-Exchange. The Caetano Levante is a coach body built on the Scania K-series 6x2 & 4x2 and Volvo B12B 4x2 chassis, exclusively for National Express in the UK. It was designed with the brief given by National Express for ‘an easy access vehicle to schedule one of the Disability Discrimination Act with the wow factor.’ As Britain’s only national coach operator, National Express is proud to have dedicated
coaches for England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. The St George’s Flag coach is one of National Express’ most popular designs and attracts a lot of attention when it arrives into stations across the country.

Routemaster Blackpool Transport, 12, dual destination OM46306A/B
Toward the end of 1985 Blackpool Transport surprised many by announcing the trial of a London Transport AEC Routemaster as part of its post deregulation strategy. Blackpool’s actions mimicked that of Clydeside Scottish who had tried and tested a Routemaster in 1985 prior to introducing a large fleet for service in Glasgow ahead of deregulation. A similar strategy was implemented by sister business Kelvin Scottish and Stagecoach and therefore implied a popular tactic. RM1583 entered service on routes 5 and 5A (Halfway House to Grange Park) and was allocated number 500 which was reserved for demonstrators. It impressed accordingly and a first batch of six was purchased and allocated number 521. A repaint into the 1930s lined red and white livery was adopted rather than the standard green and off white livery. The 5/5A was the Routemaster’s prime home, but they also ran on other crew routes – 15 (Blackpool-Fleetwood) and 22/22A (Cleveleys-Halfway House and
Lytham). Deregulation in 1986 saw the 5/5A withdrawn so the Routemasters were reallocated to route 12 (Blackpool to Airport). By 1988 the Routemaster fleet doubled as Blackpool Transport responded
to the introduction of a Promenade bus service with its own route. Six more Routemasters were purchased and arrived in pairs. With just six weeks to prepare the buses they were treated to a simplified version of the red and white livery. The new service launched on Saturday 28th May and the six buses debuted with promotional adverts for in house ‘Travelcard’ which were carried until replaced by Opal Fruits in 1993.

New Bus for London
In February 2012 the first New Bus for London hit the streets of the capital, running on route number 38 between Victoria Station and Hackney with a further seven in service by July. The new hybrid diesel-electric motor vehicles were first announced back in 2008 in Mayor of London, Boris Johnson‘s election manifesto and have since become commonly known as the BorisBus. Reverting back to the popular open-platform of the old Routemasters, the NBfL offers the same hop-on hop-off rear platform as well as two other sets of doors, each with an Oyster card reader. With two sets of stairs and three entrances the NBfL is easy to get on, off and around. Designed by Heatherwick Studios and built by Wrightbus using lightweight materials and with distinctive glass sides to the two staircases the bus has a light and airy feel inside. More than just a pretty face the ‘green innards‘ of these red buses are twice as fuel efficient as standard diesel buses and are the most environmentally friendly of their kind.
In July 2012 CBS Outdoor UK announced the launch of the first ever advertising campaign on the New Bus for London. All eight buses currently feature advertisements for some of London‘s leading West End Shows, including The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, The Lion King, Wicked, Mamma Mia!, We Will Rock You, Ghost and Singin‘ in the Rain. The advertising campaign is scheduled to run until February 2013.

New Bus for London 38 Victoria, ‘MAMMA MIA’ OM46605
A daughter’s quest to discover the identity of her father in time for her upcoming wedding sees the arrival of three men from her mother’s past return back to the idyllic Greek island where they met 20 years ago. As the story unfolds to an entire catalogue of timeless feel-good Abba hits, it becomes clear that any one of these men could be the father of the bride. A tale of love, laughter and friendship that’s sure to have everyone up on their feet and dancing.

New Bus for London 38 Victoria, ‘Wicked’ OM46604
The untold ‘other side of the story’ that uncovers just how Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West came to be so in the original tale of The Wizard of Oz. Based on the 1995 novel ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch’ by Gregory Maguire, the theatre adaptation has proved a huge hit with audiences and critics winning the 2010 Oliver Award for Most Popular Show and the 2010 and 2011 Whatsonstage.com Award for Best West End Show.

New Bus for London 38 Victoria – ‘We Will Rock You’ OM46606
Set in the future on Planet Mall, Globalisation has taken over. Everyone watches the same movies, wears the same fashions and think the same thoughts. Everyone except a group of underground rebels named the Bohemians. All musical instruments have been banned and computer generated tunes are scheduled years in advance, but rumour has it that instruments still exist somewhere on Planet Mall. Caught in a landslide with no escape from reality the Bohemians venture to uncover the hairy guitar god who lays buried deep in rock.

Wright Gemini Finglands, dual destination OM41228A/B
Charles Fingland, a Rolls Royce test driver until 1907, started Finglands Hire Cars and Bookings which originally ran luxury limousines. A scheduled coach service followed and Finglands became the first coach company to run a scheduled service between Manchester and London with a coach that had an on-board toilet and radio. In 1954 the Fingland’s family decided to sell the business after substantial costs were accumulated during the company’s short-lived aviation business – Finglands Airways, and a sale took place to Mr Robert Bunning. Finglands has a long standing relationship with The University of Manchester, and started running a private hire service for students between Owens Park and the University in the early 1980’s. Finglands had applied to run buses for the students but
due to regulations and low cost of the proposed student fare they were unable to do so. The bus industry deregulated in 1986 and Finglands had the opportunity to run proper buses for students along the main Wilmslow Road. It became the first to offer late night services and dedicated buses for students at low prices. Success brought attention and in 1992 it was sold to Hull based EYMS Group Ltd.

Daimler ROE Grampian, dual destination OM41412A/B
The last of three extra Daimler CVG6’s added to Aberdeen Corporation Transports in 1963, 314-316 differed from the rest of the batch by having red trim interiors. In 1975 local government reorganisation saw Aberdeen Corporation department transfer to the newly formed Grampian Regional Council. The livery was changed slightly, retaining the green and cream but losing the green between the decks in favour of a narrower orange band featuring the Grampian fleet name and
Grampian Region crest. The bus remained in service with the last crew buses until withdrawal in 1980. A selection of Aberdeen buses have been saved from being scrapped and are housed in the collection of buses at the Grampian Transport Museum at Alford, Aberdeenshire.

Wright Eclipse Single Deck, Go North East 100th Anniversary, dual destination OM46017A/B
Wade Emmerson, founder of OK Motor Services, ran his first bus from Evenwood to Bishop Auckland on Easter Saturday 1912. After the First World War new routes were introduced, including one from Bishop Auckland to Newcastle, and was the first to use the OK Motor Services name. By 1939 ‘OK‘ was based in Bishop Auckland and the garage was extended with new vehicles, including the AEC Reliance single-deck bus joining the fleet. In 1959 OK Motor Services Limited was formed. By the mid 1980s the fleet stood at 200 vehicles and the fleet name OK Travel was established. In 1995, the company was sold to the Go-Ahead Group PLC and the ‘OK‘ identity was maintained for a while before being encompassed within ‘Go North East‘. 2012 would have been the Centenary year for ‘OK Motor Services‘ and ‘Go North East‘ is proudly running bus services in the Bishop Auckland and South Durham area with vehicles carrying the distinctive ‘OK‘ red, maroon and cream livery with OK Motor Services fleet names.

Wright Fusion First Leeds, 95, dual destination OM41310A/B
First in Leeds is part of the FirstGroup plc a major provider of bus services in the UK and North America. In the city of Leeds First run over 400 buses, have 1,300 staff providing over 50 million bus journeys a year. The Bendy Buses were introduced in Leeds in 1999 on service 1 between
Beeston in the South of the city and Holt Park in the North. This is the main corridor for student travel along Headingley Lane/Otley Road, where the two main universities are located. The services were introduced to help alleviate capacity problems on the student service 95 which operated between the Leeds Rail station and the University of Leeds halls of residence at Bodington Hall. The special all over advertising promoting the £1 fare marked their introduction in April of that year with the bright orange body work the dark blue skirt and the scattering of £1 coins.

SHOWBUS NEWS
Showbus takes place this Sunday at Duxford. The following news is taken from the Showbus programme/guide/Bus and Coach Buyer which will be on sale on Sunday:

"Another year has passed and WWW.TTCDIECAST.COM would like to offer a warm welcome to all the visitors to this superb TTCDIECAST SHOWBUS 2012 event here at Duxford.

Firstly, may I take this opportunity to thank all the staff who have worked so hard to make this event the leading and largest bus and coach rally in Britain, if not Europe! Yet again, when other UK Rallies continue to shrink, the display here at Duxford is beyond belief with buses travelling from all over the country to celebrate this year’s event.

With fuel prices soaring, we must remember that the cost to their operators/owners is rising year on year, but they continue to support this wonderful event. This also could be said for the stall holders, who I know have not necessarily had one of there best trading years, but have continued to support us.

I think the event last year quickly quashed the rumours that, with Showbus losing their biggest name sponsor, it would struggle to carry on. In fact, with new enthusiasm and a great relationship, our sponsorship and the rest of the sponsorship team could help to keep the event at the top of the rally calendar list.

Visitors to our stand last year were not only treated to our new releases, but were also able, for the first time in many years, to view the whole of the 2011-12 Corgi pre-production models. This was the first time the model for the New Bus for London, or Borismaster as it’s affectionately known, was seen by the public. A real scoop.

Along with pre-production models from Base Toys, again the first time that the new Duple Dominant was shown to the public, and Britbus, I think our stand offered more than any previous sponsors had in the past, and we hope to continue that this year.

So what have we got new for this year?...

Well, unfortunately, we have been hit, along with other manufacturers, with the long lead times from the Far East for our own model ranges, but we still hope to have at least a couple of surprises.

The Showbus model this year, for the first time, will not carry Showbus branding and will be the single door version of the superb V3 model that Jotus has made for us. It will however be issued in our superb Showbus presentation boxes, and will be limited to just 300 pieces worldwide. We will also offer a code 3 model that will carry branding as per last year. This model will be limited to just 50 certified pieces for retail, and will also be used as prizes on the day. We will also still have some of last year’s ever poplar FRM I models that do carry the Showbus banner.

We had hoped to produce a pair of Optare Spectra models for the event, but due to timescale, we could not get the models here in time. We will, however, have some finished paint samples and order forms for the models, which will be limited to just 200 pieces of each, and will be available in Metroline’ and ‘East London Coaches’ liveries. I am sure that you will agree, once you see them, that they are worth the wait. These models will be available to pre-order for delivery during October 2012. We may have a very small amount for sale on the day, on a first come, first served basis.

Please come and speak to us, as we will be dipping into older models next year and it will be interesting to get your views on what to do next. With Creative Master rumoured to be producing models again shortly, and Oxford Diecast producing some superb 1:76 models, maybe 2013 is going to be a good year for model buses.

Be sure when you visit our stand to enter your details on our database and join our mailing list where you will hear all the news first.

Hope you all have a great day, Chris - WWW.TTCDIECAST.COM"

NEW GARAGE KITS ANNOUNCED BY KINGSWAY MODELS
Kingsway Models have announced the following new kits. All are available at
www.kingswaymodels.com

Southdown's Hilsea Depot:
1/76 scale card kit. The model can be built in either classic Southdown or NBC versions and measures approx. 34" wide by 5.5" deep. For sale at £16 including UK postage:

AH Nunhead London Transport Bus Garage:
This garage was opened originally by the National Steam Car Co passing through LGOC to LT. It remained operational until 1954 and was afterwards used by coach companies and then Prince Marshall's Obsolete Fleet which provided ST 922 for central London vintage route 100. Now demolished (although part of the tower still remains amongst the housing on the site) this characterful building can be assembled without the LT signage to perhaps represent a bus garage for another company. For sale at £14 including UK postage:

Chelsham or Godstone (Revamped kit):
The kit is now deeper (6.75") although the same price as before. Note that the photos show the model affixed to a scenic board with a little extra detailing to show what results can be achieved. The garage doors can with care be repositioned as required. Either of these very similar garages can be built from the kit. For sale at £14 including UK postage:
