NEW
EFE COMMISSIONED MODEL FOR STAGECOACH LONDON LEYTON GARAGE OPEN DAY Stagecoach London have advised me that they have commissioned a limited edition (450 pieces) Leyland Titan model from EFE. The model is decorated with adverts for the open day and will be on sale (price is still TBC) at the Leyton garage open day on 22 September. The following Press prelease gives details of the Open Day: PRESS RELEASE The theme for this year’s Open House event is the “Changing Face of London”. With this in mind, Stagecoach London is arranging for behind the scenes visits to Leyton, one of its oldest bus garages and West Ham, its newest. Visits to West Ham, London’s greenest garage, will need to be pre-booked, but Leyton will be open to all and there will be no admission charges. Visitors to West Ham will be taken on guided tours, which need to be booked in advance, themed either for architectural or enthusiast interest. Tours will last up to 45 minutes and will begin at intervals from 10.00 to 15.30. Visitors will have a chance to learn about the background to the garage, its construction and green features, as well as being able to see examples of the current bus fleet. For those who want to see both garages, there will be a chance to join special buses to Leyton. Tours of West Ham can be booked from Thursday 16th August on 020 7055 9600 or by e-mail to pr.london@stagecoachbus.com Leyton garage, originally built in 1906 and enlarged in 1912, will be open from 10.30 to 16.30 and will feature a display of buses from past times as well as sales stands and other displays of interest. A commemorative limited edition model bus has been produced for the event. There will also be “non-landing” open top (weather permitting) bus tours to West Ham which will give a brief look at the newest garage. To

SHOWBUS
MODEL ANNOUNCED The latest edition of Model Collector magazine gives details of the special model for this years Showbus and also news of some other Jotus releases. I have copied the article below: "Showbus International 2012 The bus industry’s biggest annual showcase will take place on Sunday, September 16 at the Imperial War Museum, RAF Duxford, Cambridgeshire. This year the event will celebrate Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee with a special Diamond Run of buses from each year of our Queen’s reign from Trumpington to Duxford. Other anniversaries being feted will be 40 years of the Leyland National and 50 years since the launch of the revolutionary twin steer Bedford VAL. While a salute to the London 2012 Olympics will see a display of Leyland and Volvo Olympians and Optare Olympus buses. To top this all off, an exclusive show model, the new Jotus Optare Spectra (dual door) in an LT livery (yet to be announced) will be on sale at the stand of the shows sponsor TTC Diecast. TTC Diecast also advise that it is hoped three other new Jotus resin models will also be on sale: the Jotus BEA Regal, the Optare Versa in Arriva colours and a Volvo Ailsa V3 (the latter two being exclusive TTC Diecast commissions), It is also hoped there will be displays of the new Corgi and B-T Models buses, and the new Forward Models Birmingham Standards". BAY BUS RALLY CODE 3 MODEL Julian Bowden has sent me the following News release and photographs: "The Herne Bay Bus Rally is happening this Sunday (August 12) at the William Street car park in the centre of Herne Bay. The event is a charity fund raising occasion for the Demelza Children's Hospice. To boost the charitable contribution from the event, for the first time in six years there will be a special 'code 3' model bus for sale with appropriate adverts. The model will be the Exclusive First Edition Leyland National in East Kent livery with destination blinds for route 6 to Herne Bay and side adverts commemorating the rally. The model will be a limited run of 50 pieces and will be available on the day for £20 each. From this special show price, £5 is being donated to Demelza". Photograph
