NEWS
OF A COMMISSIONED NEW ROUTEMASTER FROM CORGI OOC Many thanks to Michael Edwards for advising me of a Corgi OOC commissioned model. He writes: "There is a new OOC special that has been produced for Wrightbus 70th Anniversary. It is the New Routemaster (Borismaster) in Red with LT logo and 70th anniversary ads and blinds. 2,000 produced (with cert) as a gift for their 2,000 staff. There are a few selling on ebay, they seem to be fetching around £150 each at the moment. Wrightbus do not have any available for the public". If anyone can confirm details of the model or any photographs I could publish, please email me CLICK HERE Update 21:30 21/12/16: I have just look looked at photographs on eBay. The models box does not appear to show a stock code (although I have not seen photographs of the underside of the box). It carries no fleet names or numbers and a registration number of "WG70". Front destination blind of "Wrights Group 70th", rear blind of "70th" and side blind of "1946-2016". It has side banner ads for Wrights Group 70th "Forward thinking never ages" - Any photographs would be most welcome. Wednesday 21st December 2016 |

RELEASE FROM ATLAS EDITIONS I can confirm that the following model has been released. Sadly the real bus in question is a Plaxton Premiere where as the model released has been modelled on a Plaxton Excalibur casting. You will note in the photographs that the plastic plinth says Plaxton Premiere so I am note sure how Atlas made such a fundamental mistake. CORGI
2017 CATALOGUE Corgi have just announced their first catalogue for 2017. With this catalogue they appear to have reverted to something they did a number of years ago and have issued a 3 month catalogue covering January to March 2017. They refer to this catalogue as a "mini catalogue". Hornby advised their trade customers that they are "experimenting with mini catalogues for each brand from January to March 2017. This will only be available on-line in PDF format". The logic behind this appears that to send out a catalogue in January for January releases limits the opportunities of the trade to take advantage of the newly announced models. Having said the above, I can confirm that as per my news of 23rd November there are no buses and no trucks in this new catalogue. The catalogue comprises 6 new helicopters/aircraft and 6 new cars. Hopefully we will see some more buses in the April to June catalogue but there is no word on that at present. Hornby also mention that they will be formally launching their 2017 catalogues in January and will be holding trade only Roadshows to preview their catalogues to the trade. Hopefully we will find out then if there is likely to be any more more buses during 2017. Friday 2nd December 2016 |

MODEL 40101 DAIMLER DMS - NETWORK SOUTH EAST - NEWS RELEASE AND
PHOTOGRAPHS Many thanks to Neil at Time Tunnel Models for forwarding the Bachmann news release to me and to Bachmann for sending me the two photographs to accompany the news: "We are pleased to announce a new model in our recently acquired Exclusive First Edition range. E40101 is an Open Top Daimler DMS in the dual livery of Maidstone & District and Network SouthEast and was officially launched at the 2016 Warley National Model Railway Exhibition at the NEC Birmingham. The DMS was London's first purpose built one person operated double deck bus, however it proved unpopular due to slow boarding times compared to the open platform AEC Routemasters and also maintenance costs were high, due to the way they were designed as there was no ability to separate the body from chassis for overhaul. Withdrawal of the DMS fleet began in early 1979 with Leyland Titans and MCW Metrobuses purchased as replacements and in some cases Routmasters were reinstated to DMS routes. Many of these now retired vehicles were sent to the dealer Ensignbus in Purfleet, which became know as the 'DMS graveyard'. As supply exceeded the secondhand demand for these buses many vehicles could not be moved or maintained and so simply rusted into disrepair. Our model depicts one retired DMS which was spared this fate. GHV 90N (DM1090) first entered service with London Transport in 1975 running out of the Cricklewood garage, after many internal transfers it was sold in 1983 to Ensignbus where it stayed for a short while before being bought by House's of Watlington for use in their small fleet. By 1989 it had been bought as a joint venture between Maidstone & District and Network SouthEast for use as a bridge maintenance vehicle. It was given a new fleet number P90, repainted in the striking Network SouthEast livery and had its roof removed to make it more practical for its new use. Our model uses revised tooling of the upper deck to portray the changes which were made to the real vehicle. E40101 includes an individually numbered limited edition certificate and has a recommended retail price of £44.95". To

PRESS
RELEASE RECEIVED TODAY FROM BACHMANN - BACHMANN ACQUIRES EFE The following press release has been received today from Bachmann: Bachmann Europe Plc acquires Exclusive First Editions Bachmann Europe Plc is delighted to announce their acquisition of the Exclusive First Editions range of 1/76th scale die-cast vehicles including buses, coaches, lorries and London Underground tube trains. The company began trading as part of the ERA Group in 1989 and was originally located in Great Yarmouth before moving to Milton Keynes. In 1996 the company moved to Hemel Hempstead and in 2001, Frank Joyce, the only remaining founder member of the EFE team bought the company with his wife Brenda, relocating to Enfield the following year. Bachmann Europe Plc began distributing EFE products to the model trade in July 2013. David Haarhaus, Managing Director of Bachmann Europe Plc said today “We are delighted to incorporate another high quality addition to our existing model and hobby portfolio. The Exclusive First Editions range of collectable vehicles has enjoyed a good reputation for developing highly detailed and well researched models. EFE has been a corner stone of Die-Cast Model collecting for many years, while other ranges may have come and gone with varying interpretations of the original vehicles. We are looking forward to further developing the existing items, and delivering new models to the many EFE collectors and discerning enthusiasts around the world. Frank Joyce’s ethos was always to set out to produce the most accurate model possible. This matches the Bachmann ideals entirely, never trying to be the cheapest, but working hard to try and be the best”. Bachmann added the additional information to their email: To clarify the position, Bachmann Europe Plc have acquired the brand name Exclusive First Editions (EFE), tooling and remaining stock of the company. We have not acquired the name of the parent company (Gilbow Holdings) or other parts of it. Monday 17th October 2016 |
