Photograph © British Model Buses NEW MODEL ANNOUNCED BY RAMBLERS HOLIDAYS Ramblers Holidays have announced a new model expected to be available in February 2005, the below is an extract from a letter I received today from Mr Stuart Alderman: ".... I will not have another model until the new year when I am expecting to be able to
produce a vehicle for the Ramblers Association. The good news is that it will be at a
much lower cost as I have taken the opportunity to purchase 260 Corgi green 4Q4s in In the late forties and fifties before cars were in widespread private ownership the Ramblers Association organised day-trips for walkers, including transport, in numerous areas . Fairly local excursions were by coach or bus and farther afield trips were by special Ramblers trains. They were very popular and greatly enjoyed. One of these I joined was from Islington to the Hogs Back for a good days walking in that part of Surrey. The bus, a Q, had come from Guildford early in the morning, I believe working a sector of the 715 to London and as far as I know did the same in the evening after returning the walking party to Islington. Such an operation meant the bus was available in Guildford for much of the day at a time when the country area was borrowing vehicles from the central area to provide sufficient capacity at weekends. Our bus recreates one of these excursion vehicles. The blinds will read "Ramblers Association Excursion - Christmaspie and Hogs
Back". The fleet number will be Q95, CJG 200 and the garage plate GF1. Along the roof on each side above the windows will be a one line advert "Join the Ramblers The production run will be only 260 with individually numbered certificates. The
price is £16.25 plus £1.75 for p&p. It is hoped to be ready for February delivery
and those wishing a model can date cheques for the end of January, in any case they will not be banked until the models are ready for dispatch. You are welcome to
collect your model from Watford and save the p&p, by arrangement of
course". Cheques should be made payable to Mr S Alderman. Monday 29th November 2004 |

LONDON
TRANSPORT MUSEUM NEWS
I have copied below an extract of the new model news from the latest LT Museum Subscriber newsletter which I received recently. EXCLUSIVE FIRST EDITIONS A few Bus Set 12 (Prototype Routemasters) remain available. This set has been extremely popular, and if any customers have not already ordered and are so minded, please do so now, as stock will not last for much longer. Details on the attached order form. As many of you by now know, our enigmatic references to two RML's (2360 and 2403) being available in due course, have changed to RM 25 wearing Great Northern livery and RML 2524 wearing Shillibeer colours. The originally allocated vehicles needed much work to be undertaken to reach an acceptable standard for further public service. The order form has been further amended, as there will be two versions of each, one of each with adverts on Route 73, and one of each without adverts on Route 19. These models should be available in early 2005. Details on the attached order form. Our special model for Acton is RF190 in 1950's Green Line livery on Route 712 to Dorking When the Acton allocation has been sold, all remaining stock will be allocated to our Standing Order customers on a first come, first served basis. Details on the attached order form. The long awaited London Transport green STL is again on the horizon, and we will be able to produce a much larger quantity than was originally arranged three years ago. New details are; STL2411 (EGO 473) Route 455 to High Wycombe. In view of the elapse of time and changed specification, please reconfirm your order on the attached order form. We are pleased to announce that the next Bus Set (13) due in Spring 2005 will be 'London Country in Rickmansworth', featuring an RF and a GS, which is the latest EFE casting. At present price and further details are not finalised. A separate letter will be sent to you in due course, and no orders can be accepted at this time. We are accepting orders for the new GS model casting, the first release is expected at the turn of the year. Yes, we know it will be green London Transport, but no further details are available. We expect a price of £18.99, but as yet is unconfirmed. Obviously, the correct retail price will be charged for those who chose to order. Details on the attached order form. We now have in stock a quantity of the special 10T10 in red livery the EFE Duxford Special. The model costs £18.99 Details on the attached order form. CORGI We are working on our first ever commission with Corgi Classics (Original Omnibus Company), and when we have finalised details we will write to you. SUNSTAR The first Sunstar RM was sold out before we took delivery, and we expect RM254 an example of a standard production vehicle, to be as popular as the original'. This is expected in November. Mail Order is available at £20 extra, but we operate a reservation service for this product line. RM664, the unpainted aluminium example will be available in the new year. Details on the attached order form. CREATIVE MASTER NORTHCORD As you may now know, CMN will be releasing a Mercedes-Benz Citaro 2 axle bus model next spring, the first livery will be First London on RV1, and a Citaro articulated bus, with a least a Stagecoach London example on Route 453. Prices for each are unknown at present, but we will accept orders for both models in the new year. Also new will be the Alexander Royale model, and expected liveries include Lothian. We will send more detailed information in the next letter. BRITBUS At short notice and previously unannounced, Britbus have produced a special model for the Museum, which has already been delivered. This is a Guy Arab III with Park Royal bodywork (and a recent casting), G436 and was unique to the fleet operating for a year in Peckham and Enfield. (Our version differs in very minor respects from the less numerous standard release which is only being made available to us in very low quantities and is not available on mail order). Our version is priced at £29.99. This is the same model that was also available at Duxford. details on the attached order form. Finally we are very pleased to announce a new casting from Britbus in Spring 2005. This will be an AEC Swift/MCW (or Marshall) SM type. We have arranged a special model for the Museum. It will be SMS700, one of three painted in Red Arrow livery in the later days of the type's operation, and is depicted working on Route 501 to Waterloo. We expect a very heavy demand for this model, and early orders are recommended. Details on the attached order form. Monday 1 November 2004 |
