NEW
CASTING FROM CORGI OOC I have received various reports that Corgi OOC are in the process of developing the Wrightbus Gemini body as a new casting for release 1st half 2004. I understand this vehicle will be produced in both single and dual door variations (I have not heard if a 3-axle variation is being considered to model Hong Kong vehicles). I have been further advised that as part of their licensing agreement with Corgi, Wrightbus will have the choice of first livery for the new model. A source informs me that the first model is likely to be the Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini demonstrator, that has been recently touring the country. The Corgi OOC Collector club magazine (Feb to March 2003) eluded to the possibility of the Wright Gemini model being produced. Also mentioned in the same article was the Wrightbus Eclipse and Solar on Volvo B7L Scania L94UB chassis and the Mercedes-Benz Citaro. However nothing has yet been heard about these others. I will publish further details as soon as I hear anything. CONFIRMED RELEASES FROM

MASTER NORTHCORD LTD PRESS RELEASE
Newport Transport ukbus1011 -- Alexander ALX 400 – bodied Dennis Trident Creative Master Northcord Limited (CMNL) has released its eleventh replica bus on its well-known casting, the Alexander ALX 400-bodied Dennis Trident. The ukbus1011 model carries Newport Transport colours. The replica is of the bus registered V39 HTG, fleet number 39. It is also the first time that CMNL has produced a replica for a Welsh bus operator. The eye-catching detail of the replica captures the striking, graphic design of the livery, which extends over some windows. The design is based on a steel sculpture known as the “Newport Wave” which stands on a bank of the River Usk in the city centre. The sculpture, which is over 15m in height and has become a local landmark, represents Newport’s links with the steel making industry and with the sea. Newport Transport acquired a fleet of six ALX 400 / Trident 2 double-decker buses in January 2000. These were the first ever Dennis chassis in the Newport fleet and are used predominantly on Service 30 between Newport and Cardiff. The replica is a one-piece casting whose clean lines accentuate the windows and livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible. The model has no ugly metal poles to hold it together and has a new anti-branch feature. The ukbus1011 model is limited to 2200 pieces worldwide. The Newport Transport bus models will be distributed by Corgi Classics Limited (UK), Porte Publishing Company (Japan) and Concorde Hobby Shop (HK) respectively.

SUBSCRIBER 3RD MAILING - ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Mr Joyce Managing Director of Gilbow Holdings states: "Further good news is that after six years of being prevented from using the liveries of the Go-Ahead Group, the restricted licensing problem has been resolved. Collectors can now look forward to seeing models appearing in both the modern and traditional liveries from across the country especially Brighton & Hove and the North East." Additionally he makes comment
on the standard of the adverts on the LT Golden Jubilee models: "The London Transport Golden Jubilee models have stimulated a few observations and comments and my
reply to some of these would be of general interest to subscribers. Most comment relate to the timing,
availability and the use of vinyl labels for the adverts. Wednesday 9 July 2003 |
