CREATIVE MASTER NORTHCORD
The following press release was issued this morning in Hong Kong:

ukbus 2001 Lothian Buses City Sightseeing Open-top Dennis Trident

'Creative Master Northcord Limited (CMNL) has proudly released its second new casting for its famous ukbus series a Plaxton President bodied Dennis Trident. The launch model is a replica of an open-top version with Lothian Buses City Sightseeing colour.

CMNL is creating a history when it releases this open-top bus model, just as Lothian Buses did when it purchased four Dennis Tridents with permanent open-top Plaxton President bodywork for use on its open-top tours in 1999. In the past, Leyland Atlantean and, more recently, Olympians, which were coming to the end of their working lives, had their roofs removed and were kitted out for sightseeing work in the City of Edinburgh.

In 2000 Lothian’s open-top tour adopted the new, bright and colourful City Sightseeing branding and the buses were repainted into their current livery.

The replica carries the registration number of W632 PSX. It features excellent detailing, inside and out, including an opening engine door, engine detail and a first – the pair of tables which allow for family groupings to sit together in the lower deck. This is a one-piece casting whose clean lines accentuate the windows and livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible. The model has no ugly metal poles to hold it together.

The Lothian Buses City Sightseeing Open-top Dennis Trident is the seventh 1/76 scale diecast bus or coach from Creative Master Northcord  Limited since 2000, following the Volvo Super Olympian / Alexander 500, Mitsubishi FUSO MP non-step bus, Volvo Olympian / Alexander Royale, Dennis Trident / Alexander ALX400, Hino Selega coach and Shanghai Sunwin Volvo B7R.

The brand new open-top bus models will be distributed by Corgi Classics Limited (UK), Porte Publishing Company (Japan) and Concorde Hobby Shop (HK) respectively'.

CREATIVE MASTER NORTHCORD
Approximately 6.30am (UK time) tomorrow morning (22 October) I will be publishing a press release (being issued tomorrow morning) from CMN regarding their new Lothian Buses Plaxton President (Open top) together with photographs of the final production version of the model.

C'sM NUMBERING SYSTEM
Further to my news article of 16th October regarding the numbering of the newly announced models I have received clarification from C'sM as follows:

Both models will carry two codes, a code beginning "MCW" and a code beginning "COL". The "MCW" code is the code used by C'sM. The "COL" code will be used by the UK importers. Over the next few days I will update the C'sM page and will show both codes against each model.

LONDON TRANSPORT MUSEUM MODELS
I thought you may find the below extract from the Friends of the Museum Newsletter (shop section) mentioning the Golden Jubilee models to be of interest

'The words Golden Jubilee provoke a variety of emotions with the Shop staff. The delays in the production of the special models are due to a number of factors. Firstly, Exclusive First Editions have moved to new premises in Enfield, and there has been some disruption to their schedules. Secondly, as eagle-eyed friends have noted, the area of common denominators of all the gold RMLs is confined to the Golden Jubilee discs on the between-deck advert panels at the front and rear. Every bus has a different application of livery detail. In one noteworthy case, there is no reference at all to the vehicle's owner. Production from this group of vehicles has been very problematic. Four versions of the RMLs have been pre-sold, and three versions will be sold in the shop at a date to be announced. The Golden Jubilee Bus Set (RT, RM and T) is on schedule, however, and should be delivered by Christmas. A special gold RT will be available in the shop early in the New Year. Because of the complexity of livery details, we are as yet uncertain of the final prices of the individual RMLs and the RT.'

AUTRALIAN 1/76th SCALE DIECAST MODEL BUSES
Although not a British news article, I thought a number of you may be interested in seeing a copy of a flyer sent to me by Andy Shaw a visitor to this site from Eaton, Western Australia. The flyer relates to an Australian company called Trax who are releasing a range of 1/76th scale diecast Daimler CV models as part of their Trux Bus and Big Rigs models. MODEL COLLECTOR MAGAZINE - DECEMBER ISSUE
My subscriber copy arrived this morning. There are a number of articles of interest to bus collectors including one on the Burlingham Seagull. A letter in the Letters to the Editor Section caught my eye and I feel it may be of interest to you:

A reader wrote pointing out that the EFE Eynon's RF 23313 was in fact a redecorated Blue Triangle model 23312. Frank Joyce from EFE responds to the letter as follows: "We have no qualms about confirming that this is our way of dealing with surplus stock and believe it to be preferable to 'dumping' quantities of excess models on the market, thus lowering the value of those purchased previously. These 'conversions' are produced in much smaller quantities than most models and consequently are often highly collectable. I would also like to point out that undertaking changes in livery actually involves more work that most collectors realise"
