BACHMANN EFE COMMISSIONED MODEL 2nd posting Thursday 22nd January 2015 |

NEW
BACHMANN EFE COMMISSIONED MODEL ANNOUNCED The following news has been received today from Bachmann, I hope to publish photographs later this evening: "The Southdown company has always been one of the most popular Bus operators, and 2015 is their 100th anniversary. We have produced a model of a preserved Southdown bus, with each having a numbered certificate in a unique Southdown Ticket design. This is a limited run of up 1040 pieces. The item number is E35308, RRP is £32.95, stock should be arriving in February. 35308 - 36' BET 6 Bay Leyland Leopard - Southdown Southdown Motor Service LTD was created in 1915 midst the turbulence of WWI, it was formed by the joining of three major operators: Worthing Motor Services, London & South Coast Haulage Co and the country services of the Brighton, Hove & Preston United Omnibus Co. Over the following years Southdown acquired many other smaller companies, which brought a diverse collection of vehicles into their fleet, though from the start they showed a preference for busses of Leyland manufacture, which would last until their acquisition in 1969 by the state owned National Bus Company. Today Southdown lives on as part of the Stagecoach group, which still runs the Portsmouth to Brighton 700 ‘Coastline’ route and still uses some of Southdown’s original depots. Southdown is remembered for many things, leading the field in British and Continental coach tours, their network of express services from London to the coastal towns of Hampshire and Sussex, but mostly for their fleet of pristine ‘cars’ decorated in a distinctive apple green and cream livery, which left a lasting impression on locals and holidaymakers alike. To celebrate the centenary of Southdown, Bachmann Europe are delighted to offer this limited edition EFE collectors model. Each model features its own numbered certificate produced in a beautiful and unique design style. Our model depicts the preserved 36’ Marshal bodied Leyland Leopard BUF 122C, which first entered service with Southdown in 1965. Decorated in the classic livery, numbered 122 and shown working on route 18 to Brighton. Available from all Bachmann Europe stockists, this certificated EFE model will be a must have for all fans of historic buses, The Southdown Company and model bus collecting. BACHMANN
"SHAKESPEARE EXPRESS" TRAIN PACK PHOTOGRAPH OF EFE MODEL On 17th September 2014, I reported that Bachmann had announced a train pack, stock code 30-525 called "The Shakespeare Express" the information stated that this pack would contain in addition to the train, carriages etc a Stratford-Upon-Avon Open top bus. Bachmann have just emailed me an early pre-production photograph of the model CLICK HERE to view, the model will be produced by EFE. It is believed the Train pack will be released during the summer, this year. I will publish additional details as soon as I receive them. BACHMANN NEWS RELEASES 31306 Daimler B20 - London General - London Driver Training Bus "We are pleased to introduce the latest EFE Exclusive item produced for Bachmann Europe Plc. E31306 is a Daimler B20 'London Driver Training Bus' and has a recommended retail price of £32.95. This latest model is a great addition to any collection Driver training vehicles have long been a feature of daily operations for bus companies all over the UK. The need to recruit and instruct new drivers is constant. Suitable vehicles were not always available, as to take a bus from revenue earning service to utilize as a trainer is not ideal. Instead, it has become common practice to use vehicles that have ended their service with the passenger carrying fleets, and yet are still in good enough running order to fulfil a vital duty. Our model depicts a very typical London Driver Training bus in the form of DMS 2422, with prototypical markings and company advertising. Most bus garages will have at least one such dedicated vehicle, making this fine EFE model an ideal addition to any collection. For more details on this or any of the buses available from EFE, please see our web site..." To View photographs of the
model, click on the links below: 28823 Leyland Titan - London Transport - Golden Jubilee Bus "Presenting the latest EFE Exclusive item produced for Bachmann Europe Plc, E28823 London Transport Golden Jubilee bus. It has a recommended retail price of £32.95 and would make a great addition to any collection. In 1983 London Transport celebrated its Golden Jubilee, in March of that year they took delivery of a brand new Titan, T747 (OHV 747Y). At first glance T747 appeared to be more of a celebration of Leyland rather than London Transport, decorated as it was with Leyland oriented branding adorning its gold livery with white and yellow trim. For the 50th anniversary it received a commemorative fleet number T1983, an optimistic fleet number as orders for Titans did not continue further than 1125. As London Transport's Jubilee programme of open days got under way, T747 was allocated to a variety of routes in and around the south east of London. Our model depicts T747 in its Jubilee livery whilst carrying its temporary T1983 fleet number, operating out of the Camberwell garage and working route 188 to Greenwich Maritime museum. Further details on this product, along with the many others from EFE, can be found by visiting our web site... " To View photographs of the

HAPPY NEW YEAR I would like to wish everybody a very happy and healthy New Year. I would also like to thank everybody who has contributed news, information and photographs etc, all contributions are really appreciated. I am looking forward to seeing what 2015 brings in the model world and particularly wondering if the manufacturing situation in China might improve giving us a more predictable and steady flow of models, rather than the many delays which have been common throughout the past year.
