MAGAZINE DIECAST AND MODEL BUS SUPPLEMENT Further to my brief news article of this morning, I have now read through the supplement: There are a number of news items that have previously been reported on this site including CMNL release programme as per the News release of yesterday. The commissioned CMNL model for the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum Lathalmond show in August and Corgi's OOC release programme (which is already very behind schedule). New items of news include: EFE Oxford
Diecast Finally an article that may be of interest to Midlands bus collectors. It is reported that Mr Derek Perry has registered a company called Forward Models (Birmingham ) Ltd to investigate the feasibility of producing a 1;76th scale diecast Birmingham standard double deck bus (1950-54). Mr Perry is seeking investors willing to purchase bonds of £100 which would be guaranteed to be repaid after 12 months. For legal reasons interest cannot be paid but investors would receive a £10.00 discount on their model purchase. NEWS

MAIDSTONE
& DISTRICT GIFT SET 99923A Further to my News article of yesterday, I have received the following from Mr Julian Bowden who commissioned the set: "The special gift set that was released at the Maidstone & District 100 event last Saturday at the Kent Showground. The adverts applied to the models are similar to those carried by the Arriva Southern Counties Volvo Olympian that has been repainted into the final version of the Maidstone & District livery prior to takeover by Arriva in April 1998. The production run was limited to 150 sets and they are catalogued by EFE as 99923A. A limited number of sets are still available at £33.00 per set, inclusive of postage and packing. They are available through myself at Model Buses (M&D Set), 21 Forde Avenue, Bromley, BR1 3EU. Cheques should be made payable to 'Model Buses'."BUSES

EFE CODE 2 MAIDSTONE & DISTRICT GIFT SET On display the weekend in the EFE tent at Dunsfold was a Maidstone & District 100th anniversary gift set. At the time it was not known whether the set would have Code 2 or 3 status. Mr Frank Joyce has today confirmed the set has full Code 2 status. The set is identical to EFE Gift Set 99923 but the models carry additional commemorative adverts of both sides of each vehicle. I understand the set is limited to 150 pieces and was on sale at the Maidstone & District Anniversary event last Saturday 9th April. I will try and obtain contact details for anyone that wants to try and purchase one. I do not know the cost or if there was any stock remaining after the event. Set

PRESS
RELEASE FROM CREATIVE MASTER NORTHCORD LTD The following press release has been received from CMNL: CMNL UK Release Update It
is a common experience, in many manufacturing facilities in the People's
Republic of China, that there is a shortage of skilled workers. In common
with many other clients, CMNL is finding the same situation in the
factories where the pre-production samples and full production runs are
made. By the time that this information appears in print, UKBUS5026 should have completed its production run and should have been shipped from the factory at the end of March. UKBUS5026 is a Mercedes-Benz Citaro rigid in the fleet of Arriva The Shires and features fleet number 3929 (BG59 FCZ) in MK platinum livery on route 300. By the end of April, Stagecoach Gold-liveried ukbus0032 should be due for shipping. This release, for Loughborough Model Centre, will feature Enviro400 / Scania 15527 (VX09 NBL) with destinations Cheltenham or Gloucester on route 94. Following this release, early May should see the production of Alexander Dennis Hybrid UKBUS6033 in the Transdev London United fleet. This will show ADH 2 (SN58 EOS) on route 482 with destination Heathrow Terminal 5. By mid-May, UKBUS1049 should be due to be shipped. This is the iconic first UK casting from CMNL and will show the updated Magic Bus livery and detailing on Stagecoach Manchester 17647 (W647 RND), an Alexander ALX400-bodied Dennis Trident. This will carry route number 143 and destination West Didsbury. Finally, UKBUS8017 is due for shipping at the end of May 2011. This is an Alexander Dennis Enviro200Dart in the Arriva Southern Counties fleet. UKBUS8017 will feature fleet number 4055 (GN09 AXH) on route 132 to Chatham Bus Station. It is likely that the normal release of update information that CMNL makes around the end of April, August and December each year will be replaced by information that is offered more often but for a shorter period once information about actual production slots is available. Please note that the release dates quoted above are anticipated completion dates, not necessarily when the models will be on sale at your retailer. Some detail may change during the production process. Creative Master Northcord Limited (CMNL) ------The World’s Miniature Bus Co. Friday 15th April 2011 |

COBHAM SPRING GATHERING 10 APRIL - CHANGE
TO ADVERTISED MODEL We heard from EFE over the weekend that last-minute production difficulties mean that the limited-edition London Transport RF model will not be ready on the day. This is much regretted and we know that this will be disappointing news for many collectors. However, it has been possible to produce a substitute model at very short notice and this will be Daimler Fleetline DF1682 running in 1930s LT livery on the London Sightseeing Tour and carrying side advertisements for the new London Bus Museum opening in August this year. The model is a factory Code 2 and will be limited to 360 certificated pieces. It will be made available at this coming Sunday’s event at Dunsfold Aerodrome at the attractive price of £10 to card-holding Cobham members and £12 to non-members. The RF model will be issued later this year and collectors will be advised through the usual channels including this web-site. It is hoped to have it available at a special event for enthusiasts and collectors to mark the opening of the new London Bus Museum. To view a photograph of the model CLICK HERE Monday 4 April 2011 |
