MASTER NORTHCORD LTD MODEL BUS KIT?? Many thanks to David Naylor for bringing an item he found on eBay to my attention. The item under eBay auction 220758537942 purports to show a Creative Master Northcord Ltd kit for an ALX500 in Stagecoach Cumbria livery. The listing describes the stock code as being UKBUS1001 (which was previously allocated to an ALX400 in First Capital livery. The photograph shows a fully decorated body shell and a complete chassis with the other pieces in a bag, it appears to be contained in a standard CMNL plastic case and cardboard sleeve. Is this a previously unannounced CMNL kit or a dismantled model being sold for reassembly? Can anyone assist in identifying it's origin? Please CLICK HERE to email me if you can help. DON
FULLER I received the latest issue of the Corgi Collector Club magazine today and was very saddened to read that Don Fuller Corgi's former Design Manager and founder of the Corgi Club had passed away aged 77. In a lengthy obituary Susan Pownall writes: "It is with great personal sadness that I report on the death on 13th February of Don Fuller, Corgi's Design Manager from 1967-1997. He worked initially in Mettoy's Northampton office before moving to Swansea in the early 1980's, as part of the companies consolidation plans. Following the demise of Mettoy in October 1983, he joined the new and very small Corgi Toys Limited team of which I was part, formed on 29th march 1984. Between then and the company purchase by Mattel and the subsequent move to Leicester in January 1991, Don was instrumental in the modern and forward-looking Corgi Re-branding, with the change of emphasis by then aimed at the adult market. Upon Corgi's move to Leicester Don re-located to Northamptonshire, where he continued as Design manager for Mattel and finally the independent Corgi Classics". Susan goes onto describes Don's work and how the Corgi Collectors Club was formed. Don is survived by his wife Bet and daughter Adrienne (formerly of Corgi and now with Oxford Diecast) whom our thoughts should be with at this very sad time. Saturday 26 March 2011 |

HERE BusFare Transfers under new ownership Bus Fare Transfers, the long established 4mm scale model bus waterslide transfer service of Jenne Lowe, has a new owner. From April 1st 2011 Bus Fare Transfers service will be operated by David Naylor under the name Omni Scale Models and Accessories. Jenne Lowe is a well known and established supplier of waterslide transfers for the model bus market in the United Kingdom. Jenne has developed Bus Fare’s ‘BusTrans’ range of waterslide transfers over a period of years. The BusTrans range includes many exclusive items and also a wide range of ‘after market’/Code 3 transfers for modellers. Products include a variety of bus company fleet names, logos, period bus side advertisements and associated detailing transfers. BusTrans transfers are for use on a wide range of model buses. The models are produced by manufacturers such as Creative Master Northcord, Corgi Original Omnibus, Britbus, Exclusive First Editions and the many resin, plastic and white metal kit suppliers. Additionally Bus Fare also supplied the Phoenix Precision Paints range. Jenne is retiring from her service and did not want see the BusFare brand and it’s well known and regarded Bus Trans product lines become unavailable as a consequence. David Naylor has reached an agreement with BusFare to acquire the product stock and continue supply of the range – and to develop it further under the “Omni” brand name. The new owner is to refresh the existing range of transfers, introducing new items to reflect the current full-size bus industry and its manufacturers and companies. Further planned developments include accessory items to enhance diecast, resin, plastic and white metal models. A new website for Omni Scale Models and Accessories is being built for customers to view and purchase products on line. A catalogue, listing items from the existing BusTrans range and new additions, is in the course of preparation. David intends to consult with individual modellers and groups, model suppliers and manufacturers to conduct market research into what new and unmet requirements exist for the transfer range to be developed further. David Naylor said: “When the opportunity arose to acquire and continue to market and develop the excellent Bus Fare service I was delighted to be able to conclude the deal. I have known Jenne for a number of years, as a customer, friend and fellow MBF (Model Bus Federation) member. Bus Fare has a very good reputation and standing in the bus modelling world –I’m really looking forward to engaging with the existing – and new – customers and moving this great brand into its next phase of development as part of Omni Scale Models and Accessories. Jenne Lowe said: “Modellers will be aware that I took over running Bus Fare on the death of my late husband Peter Lowe, who started the service. I have been in poor health in recent times; hence when David Naylor expressed an interest in Bus Fare, I considered his knowledge and enthusiasm to be the ideal for the takeover of the service. I would like to thank all my past loyal customers who have supported my service over the years – especially since 1994. I hope they will continue to give David the same support and custom to enable the service to continue and grow in its new guise." RELEASE - NEW
SCALE MODEL OF ROUTEMASTER FRM1 BY JOTUS Jotus, the resin model specialist are well known for their range of fantastically detailed models and among the model bus fraternity they have built up a superb reputation. They started with their quirky qb-art Art Routemasters, but recently have recently raised the benchmark with the brilliant model of the unique London Transport Volvo Ailsa B55 V3 with it’s twin staircases and anyone who has bought this model knows that the detail and shape are perfect. Jotus realise that their models can never compete with the die-cast manufacturers and therefore like to specialise in the unique vehicles that these companies would never consider, as the expected sales would not make the expensive die-cast tooling costs viable. This however is a blessing to the collector, as Jotus will produce to models he has only dreamt about. The next London bus to follow on form the V3 is the unique one–off FRM1 – the Front Entrance Rear Engined Routemaster, designed in 1964 and built in 1966 and released to the public around Christmas, it was to be operated as ‘one-man’. The bus utilised as much as 80% of the components from the conventional Routemaster. After several public routes, including the Round London Sightseeing tour it in 1983 was handed over to the London Transport Museum. The Jotus model be limited editions and will show FRM1 on route 76 to Tottenham, 284 to Potters Bar and the Sightseeing Tour. Jotus models are made from resin and white metal and similar to the popular die-cast models is to a scale of 1:76, which is OO gauge in model railways. The FRM1 will sell for US$77 (about £48 at today’s rate) plus postage, which can range from £6.55 to £22.0 depending upon how quickly you want the model. The model will be available on line form www.jotus.com We look forward to Jotus focussing on these unique models and can enjoyably speculate about what Joe of Jotus is thinking of for the next model perhaps RFW, BEA 1½-decker, RTC1, Inter Station C – who knows, but be sure to get one of these FRMs For further information contact Joe at jotus@hkstar.com or Sindy at sindy@jotus.com or Les at LLiLtd@aol.com CLICK HERE to download a flyer for the model which gives details of the first three releases of FRM1. PRESS
RELEASE FROM CREATIVE MASTER NORTHCORD LTD The below press release has been received from CMNL this morning: UKBUS6030 Alexander Dennis Enviro400 Stagecoach in Devon Creative Master Northcord Limited is pleased to announce the release of Alexander Dennis Enviro400 UKBUS6030. It is carrying Stagecoach South West’s Exeter Park & Ride livery. UKBUS6030 represents fleet number 19570 (WA59 FWS) that was new in December 2009. Stagecoach South West’s Exeter Park & Ride fleet was introduced in December 2009. It was the result of a year long project with Devon County Council and a joint investment of £2.5 million in new vehicles. There are 3 liveries in the fleet: RED, BLUE and GREEN, representing the Park & Ride sites of Honiton Road, Sowton and Matford located around Exeter’s perimeter. The liveries reflect the natural elements of earth, sea and landscape, highlighting what makes living in Devon so special. Since their original launch in 1987 the Park & Ride sites have grown to not only provide an important greener travel option for car users but also as a vital commuter link for workers situated on the outskirts of the city and now carry in excess of 1.5 million passengers a year. The model shows the RED livery for the Honiton Road Park & Ride site. Creative Master Northcord UKBUS1024 Alexander ALX400-bodied Dennis Trident model (S802 BWC) carries Stagecoach in Devon Park & Ride livery. Both replicas are representing the significant success of the service in past decades. Creative Master Northcord is creating new design standards in the layout of the interior of both saloons. The features inside the compartments represent the really outstanding layout of the bus, including the extensive portrayal of handrails on both upper and lower decks and replicating the additional monitors in both saloons. The headlights at the front are made of individual components to look more realistic. The brand new Enviro400 bus models will be distributed by John Ayrey Die-Casts Limited (UK), Transit Graphics (Australia), cnmycar.com (P. R. China), Porte Publishing Company (Japan) and Concorde Hobby Shop (HK) respectively. The UKBUS6030 model is limited to 828 pieces worldwide. Photograph 1 CLICK
