SHOWBUS
As mentioned on Friday evening , sadly I was not able to get to Showbus this year so am not able to do a full Show report.

Many thanks to Peter Rigarlsford for advising me that the Code 3 Show model based on a Britbus model (as reported on Friday evening) was a Nottingham City Transport model based on Britbus East Lancs Scania Omnidekka ES-12.

Thank you also to Peter for sending me PDF of the TTC Diecast page from the Show guide in Bus and Coach Buyer magazine. CLICK HERE To view the page PLEASE NOTE: this is a large file approx 350kb and may take some time to download depending on your connection speed.

CORGI OOC JANUARY TO JUNE 2014 CATALOGUE - VEHICLE DETAILS TEXT AND PHOTOGRAPHS
Further to my News of Friday evening, listed below are details of the new models. Click on the links below to view the official Corgi media photographs:

OM41415A/B Daimler ROE Grimsby Cleethorpes Transport, dual destination

Grimsby Cleethorpes Transport Joint Committee was formed in 1957 from the amalgamation of Grimsby Corporation Transport (established in 1925) and Cleethorpes Corporation Transport (established in 1930). The two corporations had run a number of joint routes prior to amalgamation.
The livery chosen by the joint committee was dark blue and cream, compared with the deep maroon and cream used by Grimsby and the grey and blue of Cleethorpes. The fleet livery was changed in 1981 to caramel and cream and again in 1988 to orange and white.
In accordance with government requirements the company became a limited company in 1986, which was acquired by Stagecoach in 1993 after which the livery became Stagecoach white and orange with red and blue chevron stripes.

OM42521A/B Dennis Trident, East Lancs, Preston Bus, dual destination

Preston Bus can trace it’s proud history back to the late 19th century and the horse drawn trams of the Preston Tramway Company. Electric trams operated from the company‘s present headquarters on Deepdale Road from 1904, and the first Preston Corporation bus service started in 1922. After deregulation in 1986 the company was sold to its employees in 1993, and became Preston Bus Ltd. More recent history has involved some upheaval and two changes of ownership, but it now looks forward to growth and stability under parent company Rotala. Preston Bus currently operate 20 Dennis Tridents out of a total fleet of 99 buses. Bus 40590 is one of 18 Tridents with East Lancs Bodywork. OM46308A/B Routemaster Black Prince, dual destination

The acquisition of a preserved Douglas Corporation AEC Regent in 1968 provided the impetus to operate buses and led to the founding of ‘Black Prince’ Coaches, named after the famous statue in Leeds City Square. The company’s buses and coaches originally wore a green and cream livery and operated contracts, private hires and a Blackpool Express service. A new livery of red, yellow and maroon, applied differently to each bus, was adopted following deregulation in 1986.
RM441 was acquired in 1990 from Western Scottish Omnibuses, when its Clydeside subsidiary was re-absorbed and RMs operation ceased. Clydeside had sold many of its ‘cherished’ RM registration plates and named many of its RMs with male names beginning with ‘R’, RM441 duly took the name ‘Rudolf’.

OM46609A/B New Bus for London Metro Line, dual destination

In February 2012 the first New Bus for London (NBfL) hit the streets of the capital running on route number 38 between Victoria Station and Hackney. A further seven vehicles were in service by July. The new hybrid diesel-electric motor vehicles were first announced back in 2008 in Mayor of London, Boris Johnson’s election manifesto and have since become commonly known as Boris Buses.
Reverting back to the popular open-platform of the old Routemasters, the NBfL offers the same hop-on hop-off rear platform as well as two other sets of doors, each with an Oyster card reader. With two sets of stairs and three entrances the NBfL is easy to get on, off and around.
Designed by Heatherwick Studios and built by Wrightbus using lightweight materials and with distinctive glass sides to the two staircases the bus has a light and airy feel inside. More than just a pretty face the ‘green innards’ of these red buses are twice as fuel efficient as standard diesel buses and are the most environmentally friendly of their kind.
AVAILABLE MARCH 2014
At the time of going to press we are unable to confirm the advertising panels for the above model and for that reason the image represents a plain red bus.
