ANOTHER NEW MODEL ANNOUNCED AT SHOWBUS
Many thanks to Paul Gander and
Phillip Stephenson for advising me of a model I missed. Ian Allan announced on their stall at Showbus the next model in their series of commissioned EFE models. They had two sample models on the stall of RML 2317 in Thomas Tilling (Brighton & Hove) Livery. Ian Allan advised that an advert for the model would appear in the next issue of Buses magazine and anyone who has bought previous models from the series will receive a mailing.

I understand that the model will carry the EFE stock code 31906, full details will be confirmed as soon as they are available.

I further understand that the real RML2317 was on display at Showbus, did anyone take a photograph they could email me for use on the site?

CREATIVE MASTER NORTHCORD - PRESS RELEASE
The below press release has been received from CMNL:

RENUMBERING

UKBUS0030 Alexander Dennis ALX400-bodied Volvo B7TL

Translink Metro

The Translink Metro model will be released as UKBUS0030 in line with CMNL company protocol for identifying models that do not comply with the original design such as this Volvo bus that is being modelled using the Trident length casting.

Even though the ALX400 casting in fully closed-top format is being retooled to allow the Volvo grilles etc to be tampo printed on smooth sides, rather than on top of the existing Trident features that are usually cast into the metal, there are too many differences in dimensions between Volvo and Trident. This retooling is being undertaken in the same way as the Open Top ALX400 for Dublin Bus, IEBUS0002.

The previously published model reference for the Translink Metro Alexander Dennis ALX400-bodied Volvo B7TL (UKBUS1047) has been voided and will not be issued in the future.

OTHER NEWS FROM SHOWBUS

The EFE Showbus model of the day was on sale 35301 BET Southdown CLICK HERE

A pre-production sample of previously announced EFE model 36002 RTL London Transport CLICK HERE was on display but there was no sample of previously announced model 25004 Bristol RELL Eastern National.

Jotus.com had their recently released London Transport Alexander Volvo Ailsa B55 MKIII on display. No models of V3 were on sale although visitors could place orders. People who had ordered their model via the Jotus.com web site were able to collect their models.

As usual I seemed to have little time for viewing the real buses on display although for the first time ever I did get out on a ride to Duxford village on a Birmingham Crossley.

Outside the EFE tent were two buses recently released in model form. Recently restored RM5 CLICK HERE was on display and visitors could purchase the Arriva commissioned EFE model of the bus. Also on display was Maidstone & District BET CLICK HERE just released in model form.

CREATIVE MASTER NORTHCORD - PRESS RELEASE
The below press release has been received this morning from CMNL:

NEW CASTING

UKBUS1045 Alexander ALX400-bodied Dennis Trident Open-Topper

Stagecoach in Cumbria

Creative Master Northcord Limited is proud to make the official announcement of its second ALX400 open top model. This is UKBUS1045, a replica of an open-top ALX400-bodied Dennis Trident in the fleet of Stagecoach in Cumbria.

UKBUS1045 represents fleet number 17016 (S816BWC)

Stagecoach North West started operating its latest Lake District open-topper service in April 2009 utilising some low-floor, easy access Dennis Tridents that were previously in the main bus fleet.

17016 was new to Stagecoach East London as its TA 16 in January 1999 and was amongst the earliest transfers to provincial companies from this first batch of low-floor Tridents after only 4 years of service in London.

Arriving in the north-west in the early summer of 2003 for conversion at the Lillyhall workshops of Stagecoach subsidiary Cumberland Motor Services, these buses received a “seamless” conversion to single door. The rebuild was impressive as these buses retained the smooth look of the bonded glass throughout the full side.

The ALX400 open-top replica features excellent detailing inside and out, including an opening rear engine cover.  This is a one-piece casting whose clean lines the livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible.

The interior plastic blister has been redesigned to ensure the secure positioning of the model on the plinth by following the shape of the Stagecoach in Cumbria open-top model that is based on the full 3-bay Lothian Buses-style conversion.

The brand new ALX400-bodied Trident Open Top UKBUS1045 bus models will be distributed by John Ayrey Die-Casts Limited (UK & I), Transit Graphics (Australia), Porte Publishing Company (Japan), cnmycar.com (P. R. China) and Concorde Hobby Shop (HK) respectively. The UKBUS1045  model is limited to 1000 pieces worldwide.

NEWS FROM THE LONDON BUS PRESERVATION TRUST - COBHAM BUS MUSEUM
The below press release has just been received from Cobham Bus Museum:

New limited-edition EFE model from Cobham Bus Museum

Most London bus enthusiasts "of a certain age" will remember from their spotting days when London Transport's driver training fleet was made up largely of the early RT-type, the so-called "pre-war" RTs. These 150 buses had been delivered shortly after WW2 had begun and the commencement of hostilities ensured that no more of the famous RT-type buses would be delivered until after the War. This batch therefore remained unique and with distinct differences from the thousands of standard RT family vehicles built later.

By the mid-1950s, the "pre-war" RTs were no longer required for passenger service and many of them then began a long association with driver-training, becoming the so-called "learner buses", an operation based at London Transport's famous Chiswick Works and responsible for giving thousands of rookie drivers their first experience of driving a London bus. The buses continued on these duties until final withdrawal for scrap in 1962/63.

Cobham Bus Museum, the Home of London's Bus Heritage, has teamed up with Exclusive First Editions to produce a reminder of these well-known buses in their training role and has selected RT79, registration no. FXT 254, to represent the class. RT79 has been chosen for two reasons: firstly, it was one of only 7 of this batch to operate in green livery in London Transport's Country Area. Secondly, this bus is believed to have been the very last of its kind to be used on training duties - still in green colours, nearly 6 years after it last carried passengers.

The model has been carefully created to represent the last 3 years of the life of RT 79 - based at London Transport's Dunton Green Garage (coded "DG") near Sevenoaks in Kent, where the bus trained hundreds of Country Bus drivers to drive for LT. Complete with "L plates" front and rear, destination blinds set to "Private", "DG" garage code and authentic period advertisements, this model has been produced as a limited edition of just over 400 and will be available for purchase at Cobham Bus Museum's Event Day on Sunday 25 October at Redhill Road, Cobham, Surrey KT11 1EF. The event is entitled "London On The Fringe" and commemorates the various "provincial" bus companies whose services met with London Transport's on the edges of LT's operating area in the 1950s and 1960s, operators such as Southdown, Maidstone & District, Eastern National and Aldershot & District. Buses from those companies, as well as LT, will be on display as well as operating free services on the day.

CREATIVE MASTER NORTHCORD - PRESS RELEASE
The below press release has been received from CMNL:

UKBUS6025 Alexander Dennis Enviro400

Arriva London

Following the great success of the launch models of the Alexander Dennis Enviro400 in two different overall lengths, Creative Master Northcord Limited is pleased to announce the release of UKBUS6025, the eighth dual-door, short-wheelbase Alexander Dennis Enviro400 model for a London operator, on this occasion in Arriva London’s standard Transport for London livery.

UKBUS6025 represents fleet number T64 (LY08CXU).

Arriva London T64 (LY08 CXU) is one of 18 Euro-4 specification Alexander Dennis Tridents with Enviro400 bodywork allocated to South Croydon garage. Primarily for the busy 466 service which operates every 10 minutes from Caterham-on-the-Hill via Croydon to Addington Village. The vehicles can also been seen on a variety of other routes alongside DAF/VDL DB250 chassis with ALX400 and Wright Gemini bodies.

The Alexander Dennis Enviro400 UKBUS6025 is a one-piece casting whose clean lines accentuate the square-mounted, gasket windows and the livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible. Another main feature on the UKBUS6025 model is its dual individual tree protectors at the front. The front dome on the model is also significant, with its curved windscreen on the upper deck.

Creative Master Northcord is creating new design standards in the layout of the interior of both saloons. These features inside the compartments represent the really outstanding layout of the Enviro400, such as the newly designed emergency window at the upper deck at the back, an additional seat behind the driving cab, additional ventilation equipment on the upper deck ceiling, and extensive portrayal of handrails on the upper and lower deck, etc. The headlights at the front are made of individual components to look more realistic.

CREATIVE MASTER NORTHCORD - PRESS RELEASE
The below press release has been received from CMNL:

NEWLY RETOOLED CASTING

UKBUS6020 Alexander Dennis Enviro400 Hybrid - Metroline

Creative Master Northcord Limited is pleased to announce the release of UKBUS6020, Alexander Dennis Enviro400 Hybrid, the long awaited newly retooled casting of a revolutionary modern double-decker in the United Kingdom.

The first livery to be carried on the brand new model is Metroline with outstanding London Hybrid Bus “Green Leaves” livery.

UKBUS6020 represents fleet number TEH 915 (SN08AAO) in service on route 16 heading to Victoria.

Metroline is part of the Singapore based ComfortDelgro group and operates around 1200 buses in North, North West, West and Central London employing nearly 4000 staff.

TEH 915 was delivered to the company in late 2008 and was the launch vehicle for the Hybrid version of Alexander Dennis’s Enviro400 model. The vehicle joined four similar vehicles delivered to Metroline earlier in the year. Being the first of the type it was subject to a number of trials and used to promote this type of vehicle across the UK by Alexander Dennis.

All five vehicles operate from Cricklewood Garage and are normally used on Route 16 between Cricklewood and Victoria.

The Enviro400 Hybrid bus has a completely new content in the engine room. They include BAE Systems’ HybridDrive hybrid driveline and a Cummins ISBe4 4-cylinder turbocharged and intercooled diesel engine. The re-tooled UKBUS6020 model replicates them all in the engine room correctly.

The Alexander Dennis Enviro400 Hybrid UKBUS6020 is a one-piece casting whose clean lines accentuate the square-mounted, gasket windows and the livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible. Another main feature on the UKBUS6020 model is its dual individual tree protectors at the front. The front dome on the model is significant, with its curved windscreens on both upper and lower deck.

Creative Master Northcord is creating new design standards in the layout of the interior of both saloons. These features inside the compartments represent the really outstanding layout of the Enviro400 Hybrid in new specifications, such as, re-located destination blind at the rear, newly design ventilation grill above the lower-deck window at the back, and extensive portrayal of handrails on upper and lower deck, etc. The headlights at the front are made of individual components to look more realistic.

The brand new Enviro400 bus models will be distributed by John Ayrey Die-Casts Limited (UK), Transit Graphics (Australia), cnmycar.com (P. R. China), Porte Publishing Company (Japan) and Concorde Hobby Shop (HK) respectively. The UKBUS6020 model is limited to 1368 pieces worldwide.
