LONDON OMNIBUS MODELS – FUNDRAISING MODEL
- CANCELLATION Lynda Crane has written to me to advise that she has had to cancel her fundraising model. Lynda writes: “Firstly let me thank you for your interest in LOM5, my fundraising model. Unfortunately, I have had to terminate the project due to mitigating circumstances. As many people know my model maker, I don’t want to go into details. It’s a devastating blow to the fundraising target, but sadly I was left with no option, other than to stand down from the project. It is likely that I will have the prototype in hand and will offer it on eBay, as a single model to the highest bidder, in an attempt to recoup my losses on the project. If anyone would like to make an offer in the meantime, please get in touch, as I’ll offer first refusal to you. The model has the highest detail ever on a LT type and will have extra interest as it was made with a short turn destination, which was researched carefully. Also it will be a model remembering the time when we had to be extra careful using public transport. I can assure you the project was important to me, and I had the best intentions of getting a high grade model to you. I would like to take this opportunity to thank British Model Buses and the Londoner magazine for supporting the fundraiser. I’m just sorry I could not repay their faith in the project in kind”. |

MODEL BUS FEDERATION - PRESS RELEASE The following press release and photographs have been received from the Model Bus Federation: The Model Bus Federation is delighted to announce their latest MBF2K resin kit. MBF2K-10 is a resin model kit of the Temsa Avenue service bus, with bonded glazing. The MBF is delighted to have acquired the manufacturing rights and master for this prototype, which was previously produced by Saltire Model Kits. Whilst it might have had a slightly chequered existence with Arriva in the UK, it is a modern service bus that will also appeal to fictional fleet operators. Printed glazing, white metal wheels, plus etched brass mirrors and wipers complete this highly detailed and authentic model kit. As the windscreen is flat, it is an ideal kit for the ‘novice’ who would like to try their hand at resin kit building. Casting will be late Q4 2020, so the kit should be available Q1 2021. Pictures show various angles of the master, including detailed interior and glazing. Like other MBF2K kits, the Temsa Avenue will be available exclusively to MBF members only. To join the MBF, visit www.model-bus-federation.org.uk or see our Facebook Page. |

NEWS OF A NEW FUNDRAISING CODE 3 NEW ROUTEMASTER MODEL Many of you will remember that London Omnibus Models previously sold a number of highly decorated all over advert Code 3, New Routemaster models. The last model issued in 2016 being model LOM4 which represented Go Ahead Group LT431 in an all over Crunchie livery. I have included a photograph of this model. Lynda Crane has contacted me to advise me that she will be issuing a new model, LOM5 in Heart 106.2 livery as a fund raising model to raise money for the charity Bipolar UK. I understand that the details of the bus to be represented have yet to be decided and Lynda will advise me of these in due course. Lynda writes: “Providing Covid settles down, I’m heading across the US next October on an 8000 miles round trip to raise funds for Bipolar UK. The trip is recreating a journey Carrie Fisher undertook, whilst on a break from filming Return of the Jedi. The trip is expensive because I have to book disabled assistance all along the journey, so I’m raising funds to finance it. As a result, I’m resurrecting the popular New Routemaster models that were a hit with collectors. The route we have chosen is the 253. There will be 20 production models. 10 going to Euston and 10 to Hackney Central. The prototype model will have the destination Camden Road - Brecknock Road. The models will also include the Covid decals on the doors. All the models will come certificated. The cost per model will be £180, with the prototype on offer to the highest bid. They will only be available via myself at lyndacrane1@yahoo.com. Postage is £4.10 for recorded delivery, or £9.95 for Parcelforce, which has higher insurance cover. The livery has been used on the 12, 73 & 253. The pictures below are not mine, but I’ve sent them for reference. Pictures of the actual prototype will follow in due course”. |
