ATLAS EDITIONS RTW MODEL
I have just read with interest Richard West's column in the latest copy of Model Collector magazine. Richard gives some additional information regarding the model, I have listed a few points of interest from his column below :

1. Within a few days of the RTW model being offered Atlas Editions had taken orders for almost 90,000 pieces.
2. The RTW is the first in a series of approximately 30 models which will normally be priced at £14.99 but the numbers of models could be increased if there is demand.
3. Corgi have loaned Atlas their tooling and the models will be produced by Atlas in China. With the exception of the Routemaster casting which Corgi will produce.
4. Corgi are providing assistance with the research and artwork so that liveries/decoration will not be exactly the same as previously released by Corgi.
5. Each model will come with a booklet giving background information regarding the vehicle and six cards (similar to cigarette cards) which can be kept in an album supplied.
6. Lastly Richard comments that with nearly 90,000 orders experience has shown that the number that become hooked is likely to be in the region of 35,000 to 40,000.

I found the comments regarding nearly 90,000 orders to be very interesting given that we regularly see models being released with production runs of 600 pieces.

NEW PAGE ADDED TO SITE - MODEL RELEASES 2010
I have created a new page detailing confirmed releases in month order (CLICK HERE to go to the new page). Alternatively it can be accessed from the menu to the left of the Home Page. I have included a running total at the bottom of each months list showing the total number of models issued by each manufacturer since 1st January.

Looking at the year to date totals (as at the end of February) it struck me as very scary how much money we could potentially have spent since 1st January with 49 models having gone on sale (including 2 1/24th Sunstar models). There have so far been 9 models issued in March and we are just half way through the month.

NEW EFE MODEL DISCOVERED
I am very grateful to Barrie Davis for sending me the below information and a number of photographs of a model he has very recently acquired. He wrote to Mr Joyce at EFE regarding the model and has received a reply which he has scanned for me:

"..... its a RM with no adverts or legal lettering and no fleet names. I wrote to Frank Joyce about these buses to see if they are genuine and to see if they were stolen, I enclose the reply from Frank Joyce and some photo's for the site. It would appear it was the base model for 15618 (Ian Allen 2nd issue) and for 16521 (BR adverts route 88). The box clearly shows 15618 and it also appears as 15618 on the EFE master list as an undecorated bus, so I believe the 2nd run of the 500th Ian Allen should really be numbered 15618A?"

PRESS RELEASE FROM COBHAM BUS MUSEUM
The following press release has been received from the Cobham bus Museum:

An escape to the country for Cobham’s latest LT Central Area model

Cobham Bus Museum will be launching another of its sought-after limited-edition EFE 1:76-scale London Transport models at its transport heritage show, which takes place at Wisley Airfield in Surrey on Sunday 11th April

The model in question will be red Central Area RTL 911 running as a Green Line relief on route 718 to Windsor.

Due to the fact that a spare RF coach was usually garaged at both Riverside and Victoria garages, it was quite rare for a Central Area bus to be used in service on Green Line duties.  On the occasion when they did appear, it was very often with the route and destination being chalked onto the blind box.  The Cobham model, however, depicts a well-presented bus from Victoria garage running as GM56 - complete with both front and rear destination blinds – having been substituted for an RMC coach on 27th September 1964.

The Cobham model is based on an actual appearance of this vehicle in this role. Limited to only 360 pieces; the model will feature authentic period advertisements. The ‘Cobham 2010’ branding will only be shown on the box and the certificate.

The model will be available exclusively from the Cobham shop at Wisley Airfield on the 11th April (not Redhill Road), priced at £27 to museum members, and £30 to non-Members. No orders will be accepted prior to the Wisley event. Any models not sold at the event will be available by mail order on 01932 868665 (Weds PM only) or before 9 pm on 01784 242669. Any other enquiries should be directed to info@lbpt.org.
