CORGI OOC RANGE TO CONTINUE
Further to my news article of 2 April 2007, I have received the following from "a source close to Corgi":

""Corgi have already started to work on the 2008 and 2009 diecast model ranges.  Plans are afoot for further models in all current ranges, including OOC, and Corgi will shortly start to invite key retailers and selected consumers to it's Leicester offices in order to gauge opinion on future models and ideas.

New staff in design and development will bring new blood and new ideas, rumours that OOC models are no longer going to be produced are unfounded"".

I will report further should I hear more.

CREATIVE MASTER NORTHCORD LTD PRESS RELEASE
The below press release has been received this morning from CMNL:

Mercedes-Benz Citaro

UKBUS5012 Green Line

Creative Master Northcord Limited is proud to release one of the most important liveries in the UK bus industry on its well known Mercedes-Benz Citaro casting. It is UKBUS5012 Green Line.

Arriva East Herts & Essex 3901 (BU06 HSD) is one of nine Mercedes-Benz Citaros which entered service in August, 2006.

Allocated to the high-profile Green Line 724 service, these air-conditioned buses feature 39 high-backed seats and additional luggage racks.

Carrying the latest Green Line livery and branding by Best Impressions, the Citaros serve the important passenger objective of Heathrow Airport from Harlow in Essex.

Green Line 724 benefits from a quality partnership between Arriva, BAA Heathrow, Hertfordshire County Council and Transport for London.

UKBUS5012 features the smooth, curved windscreen with the destination display set behind the windscreen glass. Again, UKBUS5012 has brand new luggage racks on board that are the same as on the real bus.

Mercedes-Benz Citaro UKBUS5012 model is a one-piece casting whose clean lines accentuate the square-mounted, double-glazed windows and the livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible. Another main feature on this model is the extensive portrayal of handrails. The headlight / indicator units at the front and indicator / tail light units at the rear are made of individual components to look more realistic.

UKBUS5012 is the latest model in the CMNL Heathrow Airport collection.

Details of all other members of this exclusive collection can be found below to help you complete your CMNL “Heathrow Airport Collection”.

UKBUS3025 Dennis Dart MPD / Travel London West DP1 (LJ56 ONH) on route 441 (Heathrow Airport via Staines). Production date : February 2007

UKBUS4006 Volvo Olympian / Alexander Royale N116 UHP on route A1 (Heathrow Airport Terminal 4 only). Production date : December 2005

CREATIVE MASTER NORTHCORD LTD PRESS RELEASES
The below press releases have been received from CMNL:

TransBus Mini Pointer-bodied Dart

----UKBUS3027 Solent Blue Line – red rocket

Further to the great success of the previous launch of Solent Blue Line Mercedes-Benz Citaro blue star bus models, CMNL is releasing another Solent Blue Line bus model with eye-catching route-branding decoration on the popular MPD casting. This is UKBUS3027 carrying red rocket colours.

The UKBUS3027 Solent Blue Line MPD replica carries the fleet number 577 and registration number SN03 ECC.

Hampshire bus operator Solent Blue Line brought a splash of colour to the local transport scene when they reinvented their local network around Eastleigh as ‘Red Rockets’ in autumn 2006. Wanting to bring an element of fun and excitement to local bus travel, Solent Blue Line commissioned well known agency Best Impressions to design this striking red colour scheme.

The new livery was applied to ten ‘Mini Pointer Dart’ single deckers, but the rebranding did not stop there! Each bus was decorated internally with vinyls promoting travel by Red Rocket and also recalling famous rockets in history. As a finishing touch, humorous slogans on a space theme were applied to both sides of each bus – all of them different – provoking a positive reaction both from passengers and passers by.

This is a one-piece casting whose clean lines accentuate the gasket windows and livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible. The model also features excellent detailing, inside and out, including an opening engine door, showing the detailed, environmentally friendly engine. All grab rails feature inside the replica and in their correct positions. The construction method of this replica permits realistic-looking front and rear lights – in particular the front headlamp / indicator assembly whose headlamp is transparent and indicator is translucent.

The brand new UKBUS3027 Solent Blue Line MPD bus models are limited to 1400 pieces produced. It will be distributed by John Ayrey Die-Casts Limited (UK), Porte Publishing Company (Japan), Transit Graphics (Australia), cnmycar.com (P. R. of China) and Concorde Hobby Shop (HK) respectively.

Mercedes-Benz Citaro G

UKBUS5109 Eden Project

Creative Master Northcord Limited has proudly released the first livery on its popular Mercedes-Benz Citaro G model to have received significant modification to the tooling in order to represent, as close to 100% accuracy as possible, the real buses on the roads.

UKBUS5109 features the smooth, curved windscreen with the destination display set behind the windscreen glass rather than the protruding destination found on other Citaro G models.

UKBUS5109 carries the Eden Project orange-based livery. The bus itself is owned by Truronian Limited. It represents registration number CN02 EDN.

Since the Eden Project opened in 2001 it has welcomed over 8 million people and they all have to be driven around the huge site quickly, comfortably and in an environmentally friendly manner by Mercedes-Benz Citaro G buses.

The Eden Project is owned by the Eden Trust. It is more than just a green theme park. Eden is about connecting plants, people and places. It is a living demonstration of regeneration and aims to reconnect people with their environments locally and globally.

The bus is decorated with all icons of the park, including the Humid Tropics Biome, plants, flowers, etc.

The Mercedes-Benz Citaro G UKBUS5109 model’s clean lines accentuate the square-mounted, double-glazed windows and the livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible. Another main feature on the model is the extensive portrayal of handrails. The headlight / indicator units at the front and indicator / tail light units at the rear are made of individual components to look more realistic.

The brand new UKBUS5109 three-door Mercedes-Benz G bus models will be distributed by John Ayrey Die-Casts Limited (UK), Porte Publishing Company (Japan), Transit Graphics (Australia), cnmycar.com (China), and Concorde Hobby Shop (HK) respectively. The UKBUS5109 is limited to 1800 pieces worldwide.

ADRIENNE FULLER CORGI CLASSICS
One of British Model Buses contributors has informed me that Adrienne Fuller of Corgi's design and development department has left the company.

He writes: 'It is believed that she is one of 13 people made redundant following the merger of Corgi Classics and Master Replicas.  Adrienne was instrumental in bringing the OOC range to market and had been with Corgi for some 20 years.  Assisted by a small group of independent advisors she almost single handedly produced the designs for all the OOC models since launch along with the 1:50 buses, Classic Trucks, Vanguards and other die cast.  The company is surely going to miss her talents and one now wonders, following her departure, what is the future for Corgi models buses.  Finding reference for such models is certainly not easy and we have to agree that despite a small number of faults (mostly because of problems in Chinese production) the range has been superb.  We all wish Adrienne success in the future and hope she can offer her undoubted talents to another model company - preferably buses - to the benefit of fellow collectors'.
