This model is
known as the Allsorts Base model. A number of these were redecorated by
Allsorts and released as the Allsorts Variations 10121A, B etc as shown
on Page 1 of my EFE listings. Until I received
these pictures form Barrie Davis I believed the "Allsorts Base
Model" had a registration number (front and rear) and a rear advert
for Allsorts. A friend has one of these models in their collection.
Barrie has advised me that a photograph of the model as shown below is shown in the book " The Complete World of Exclusive First Editions" by Danny Chan and Vic Davey and is also listed on the EFE CD listing. The other model I refer to (with front and rear number plates and Allsorts advertising on the rear) was bought directly from Mr James Stirling (the founder of Allsorts) as the EFE Base model. Can anyone help me solve this mystery? Which is the "correct" Allsorts Base model the one shown below or the other mentioned? Or are they both Base Models one being a variation that missed the Tampo printing machine? Alternatively is anyone aware of any other model not mentioned that purports to be an Allsorts Base model? Please EMAIL me if you can assist in any way. If anyone has photographs of the model mentioned with registration plates and rear advertising then I would be very grateful to receive copies.
